Last updated: 16 July 2026 · Applies to the Fill The Gaps app for iPhone and iPad
This policy explains what information is processed when you play Fill The Gaps ("the app", "we", "us"), why, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to meet the requirements of the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The short version: we don't ask for your name, email or any account. Your scores, streaks and progress never leave your device. The only personal data processed is what our advertising partner (Google AdMob) needs to show ads — and in the UK/EEA, personalised ads are only shown with your consent.
Fill The Gaps is published by DriverCube, the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. For anything privacy-related, contact us at [email protected].
The app has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of our own. We do not collect, store or have access to your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location or anything you type in the game. Gameplay data — scores, best score, streaks, daily-challenge progress, purchased Reveal balance and settings — is stored only on your device (and in your personal device backups). Deleting the app deletes this data.
The app shows banner adverts, occasional full-screen adverts between words, and optional rewarded adverts you can choose to watch for a free hint. Adverts are provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited, which acts as an independent controller for the data it processes to serve ads.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you will be asked for consent before any personalised advertising is shown, via a consent dialog that meets the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. If you decline, you will still see adverts, but they will be non-personalised (based only on general context, not on a profile of you). You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from within the app's consent settings, and iOS additionally lets you block tracking for the app at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
| Processing | Legal basis |

| Non-personalised, contextual advertising and ad delivery | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — funding a free-to-play game |

For details of how Google uses this data, see Google's Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's list of AdMob ad technology providers.
The app supports Apple's SKAdNetwork, a privacy-preserving framework that lets advertisers measure ad campaign performance in aggregate without identifying you or your device.
Reveal packs and Remove Ads are sold through Apple's App Store (StoreKit). Payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details, billing address or Apple ID. The app stores only your remaining Reveal balance and whether Remove Ads has been purchased, on your device. Purchasing Remove Ads stops banner and full-screen adverts (rewarded hint videos remain available by choice).
If you grant permission, the app schedules local reminders about the daily challenge (around 7am, only when you haven't played for over 24 hours). These are generated entirely on your device — no push servers, and no data leaves your device. Disable them any time in Settings → Notifications → Fill The Gaps.
The app occasionally invites you to rate it using Apple's standard in-app review prompt. This is operated by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; we receive no personal data from it.
Google may transfer advertising data outside the UK/EEA (including to the United States). Such transfers are protected by safeguards recognised under UK and EU law, including adequacy decisions (such as the EU–US and UK–US Data Privacy Frameworks) and Standard Contractual Clauses.
We retain nothing, because we hold nothing: gameplay data lives on your device until you delete the app. Data processed by Google for advertising is retained according to Google's retention policy.
The app is suitable for a general audience but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process children's personal data. Where consent applies, it is only sought from users old enough to give it under their local law. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app's advertising, contact us and we will help address it.
Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the right to:
Because advertising data is processed by Google rather than held by us, the quickest ways to exercise control are: the in-app consent settings, Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising, and Google's My Ad Centre. You can also contact us at [email protected] and we will assist or pass your request to the right processor.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EEA, your local data protection authority.
If we change how the app handles data — for example, by adding new features or partners — we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app's update notes.
