Classic
One set of letters, one answer, and 30 seconds to submit your longest word before the clock expires.
Nine letters. One ticking clock.
Build the longest word you can from a fresh set of nine letters, then learn what you missed. Play a single 30-second round, sprint through a 60-second score chase, or study one board in Brainstorm mode.
A focused word game using a curated English dictionary and a familiar vowels-versus-consonants setup.
Three ways to play
Each mode starts by choosing 3, 4, or 5 vowels. The rest of the nine-letter rack is filled with consonants from the game’s letter distribution.
One set of letters, one answer, and 30 seconds to submit your longest word before the clock expires.
Score as many points as possible in 60 seconds. A new set of letters appears immediately after each submission.
Pick a round length from 1 to 10 minutes and keep working the same nine letters until time runs out.
Educational by design
NineLetters does more than mark a word right or wrong. It checks whether your answer exists in the dictionary, whether it can be made from the letters, and what stronger options were available.
Answers are checked against a curated English word list and the exact letters on the board.
Classic and Time Trial rounds can show the longest valid word from the same letters.
Brainstorm mode shows the words you found and the valid words you missed, longest first.
Two-letter words can be disabled so practice matches the rules you prefer.
Built for quick daily play
The interface keeps attention on the timer, the rack, the answer field, and the score so each round stays fast and readable.
Every round draws from separate vowel and consonant pools.
